STC Annual Conference

The Technical Communication Summit, STC's 54th Annual Conference will be held May 13 through 16, 2007 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

If you are planning to attend the 2007 Annual Conference and would like to participate in a progression sponsored by the Online SIG, please send the information listed below to rachelh@rhoughton.com. I will submit the proposal (deadline September 1), check periodically with the presenters, and facilitate the progression at the conference.

In a progression, 8 to 12 speakers each deliver an oral presentation (5 to 10 minutes) at a roundtable, to a group of 6 to 10 participants. Each speaker then moderates a short discussion with the participants for 15 to 20 minutes. Then the participants change tables to hear a different presentation. Each presentation is made 3 times, each time with a different group of roundtable participants.

Participating in a progression offers a good opportunity to present tips and short topics, and share ideas. If you would like to present at the progression please send the following information to rachelh@rhoughton.com by July 31.

(1) Your proposed topic: title and a few sentences to describe your presentation, with the key points you will cover.
(2) Your name
(3) Your employer
(4) Your surface mail address
(5) Your phone number(s)
(6) Your email address
(7) The year(s) and topic(s) of any presentation you have made at a previous STC Annual Conference, or other presentations you have made (year, topic,
conference)
(8) Anticipated audiovisual requirements
(9) Any sample handouts or discussion questions
(10) A short bio

If you have questions, please send a message at any time. Your proposal is welcome even if you are not completely certain you can attend the 2007 Annual Conference, but if you're not sure, please indicate that. I hope you will participate. Thank you.
